I've always been a fan of old pictures, not necesserally old pictures of my childhood, but old pictures in general.. Last night, while looking through the pictures my brother brought from Brazil, I was completely mesmerized by the pictures of my parents' wedding.. Just the fact that these pictures are able to take me back to a time where my existance wasn't even close to happening amazes me.. Lately, I've been retrieving forgotten memories with the help of these 'moments caught on paper'.. This picture, in particular, caught my attention.. It captured our personality in a way no other picture did.. But of course, to understand that you have to really know us and know what we're about..

Remenber the week before you went to Brazil?. The three of us found a million things to do.. We wanted to enjoy every second we had left with you to the fullest.. We wanted to do things we would look back at and smile about.. I missed you even before you boarded the plane.. I couldn't breath on the way back home after dropping you off at the airport.. Miami never felt so fucking far away.. We talked to each other almost every night.. You knew what I did on the weekends, and I knew what you did after your Dad would go to sleep.. The day you showed up in my room after a long ass flight from Brazil was pretty amazing, I ended up getting fired from my first job because of you.. I had no idea we'd go back to our normal lives from night to day.. We were white on rice again.. The three of us.. Now, who would've thought I'd be packing my bags a few months later.. I walked towards the check-in line holding back every single tear without even looking back.. 821 days later and we're still sharing thoughts, dreams, and theories.. You know what I do after my parents go to sleep, and I know what you do on the weekends.. It's just one more birthday I missed celebrating with you, but there will be many more to come.. One day I'll chip in for the hotel room and I'll make sure there's more than just a bottle of wine in the bar..

This colorway was released as a SPECIAL LIMITED EDITION shoe for the "'White Dunk: Evolution of an Icon'" art exhibition in Paris. Limited to ONLY 202 pairs in the WORLD!
Ballot for the shoes at the Exhibition was planned but was cancelled due to the crazy amount of people wanting them. These were sold at a few select shops in Paris, including Colette and Opium amongst others. Throngs of people queued up for them for days in the cold cruel weather.
The pattern on the shoe features the works of French painter Bernard Buffet. You can read about him here.
The toe and side panels are suede, while the parts with paintings on them are canvas. Every pair of the Paris Dunk is different. They all have different panels of the featured art piece featured in them.

A spoonful of this bad boy and you'll be hooked on it for life.. The first time my tastebuds experienced the explosion of flavors from wacky Thai cuisine was years ago at a lunch date with one of my best friends.. We decided to indulge on sushi (this was long before sushi became a food trend) at this cute Asian restaurant accross the street from my ex-house.. This short, soft spoken, heavy accented Thai lady, who later became a friend and told us her whole life story, came to greet us at the door.. She sat us in this cozy tatami room and for some Godsent reason, this lady, who had came from Thailand a few months back to marry some American dude she hardly knew just to make her life easier, offered us The Soup as an appetizer.. I didn't care what was in it, I wanted it (I've always been an adventurer when it comes to food).. She brought it in an extra small bowl just in case we didn't like it, and I'm pretty sure she didn't charge us for it.. As soon as the taste of chicken, shrimp, lemon grass and coconut milk hit the tip of my tongue, I wished I was born in a little village in Thailand.. It was most defnitely magical.. We asked for another serving and completely forgot about our Sexy Sushi order..

A couple years ago I read ''Kitchen Confidential'' by Anthony Bourdain, and in this book he describes the exact moment of when he realizes that food is "something other than substance", after having his first bowl of Vichyssoise (the infamous cold French soup).. "I remember everything about the experience: the way our waiter ladled it from a silver tureen into my bowl; the crunch of the tiny chopped chives he spooned on as a garnish; the rich, creamy taste of leek and potato; the pleasurable shock, the surprise that it was cold."

This was my moment.. I had just discovered that food is something other than substance..

When I think of summer, I think of summer in '97.. Every year we'd go away on vacation, but this summer was extra special.. We rented a house by the beach, and our whole family was there with us.. Aunts, uncles, cousins, distant cousins, wannabe cousins, future cousins.. We went to Ilheus for a whole month, 30 days under the sun, and as the days went by, the blacker I got.. In the mornings we, kids, would have our breakfast, go to the beach and plan what we'd do for the rest of the day.. We terrorized the tourists and befriended the locals.. The only thing we ate for lunch was popsicles, crab and grilled cheese (nothing like the American version of grilled cheese.. This was literally, cheese on a grill, better known as queijo coalho.. Way better).. We'd go on horse rides on the beach shore when we had the chance, trips to mangroves when our parents weren't looking, and play 'Guess Who?' when night came.. Life was good.. We were happy.. Nothing could scare us.. Not even the time Bruno, Breno, Duda, Daniel and I almost drowned.. Or the time we got stuck in the middle of this huge mangrove and couldn't get out.. Or the time Daniel had an really bad asthma attack from eating fried mole crabs and almost died.. We were tough kids, soon to be rebelious teenagers, that'll evolve to be scared adults..
